Cats, cats, cats

Our neighbor's cat had kittens and they always come in our yard. Normally this would drive me crazy because I am not too fond of cats, but they keep Slade entertained for hours. The other day Slade wanted outside so I opened the door to find four little kittens on my front porch. Slade tried to catch them, but they got away. He doesn't give up easily though, a few minutes later I went out to check on him and he would slowly walk up to a kitten and then when he got close he would run after it. I watched him for a while and he did have any success. I went back inside thinking, at least they are keeping him busy. Next thing I knew he was running through the house holding a kitten. He was so proud of himself. He ran around and showed it to each of us, so Clancy and Seneca caught one also. Even though I don't like cats it was pretty cute to see all of kids holding kittens.

Sonoran Desert Museum

When we were in Tucson visiting Haskel's dad, we went to the Sonoran Desert Museum. They call it museum, but it is more like a zoo. They only have animals that are native to Arizona and they have a cool cave that you climb through. It was kind of dark and wet, but what made it a little scary was, when you first walk in the cave if you look up about fifteen feet there are real bats hanging, so the whole time through the cave I was weary of bats.

First Day of School

I can't believe summer break is already over, it went by so fast. Clancy is in 1st grade this year, his teacher is Mrs. Willis. Clancy is excited to start school, but he is a little nervous. He wouldn't let me take a picture of him in front of the school, he said I was embarrasing him, so I had to get the back of him walking in.

What a mess. We put a new fire place in and while our old one was on the front porch Slade thought he would have fun with it. You wouldn't believe how hard ashes are to clean up.

A day at the lake

The kids had a great day of fishing at Black Canyon Lake. We caught 15 fish, not bad. Too bad they were all tiny. The kids didn't care, a fish is a fish to them.
